QUEERCLASH CUMMING

QUEERCLASH CUMMING

The word Queer has been folded into the psychey so deep now the folds cover the once harmful word. Reclaimed by a community in the 80s. Adopted by academia with queer theory in the 90’s. Branching from a sexuality deviation, the birth right to see the world away from heterosexuality. Or for those ready to question the world. To query. To be different to what has been presented to us. With over a decade of a certain kind of queerness being broadcast on screens. Its edge has been commodified, repackaged and sanitised. A clash is merging to the mainstream view of queerness. With the dawn of the applications guiding lifestyle. Underground genres have struggled to breed, to grow. With everything a search away ready to be dissolved into the capitalistic model. However for the last few years a new clash of punk structures and queer colour has been brewing. The clash of PUNX N KWEENz saw queers moshpitting again. Amyl and The Sniffers and Lambrini Girls empowered queers and women to jump around. The kids are picking up instruments, make-up and dropping their instagrams and putting on gigs and making zines. Berlin has seen a wave of new bands fronted and filled with queer members. Ratas, Janitor, The Bumholes, Vista Visions, Dead Twinks Live Dolls, JEES! The Sticky Hickies, Cava, Lawn Chair, Girls In Your Area and so many more. Tutti Frutti Magazine has been documenting and fostering around local bands and the queer scene. With SHEENA IS the open stage drag night and live music promoter putting on shows. Along with big releases from legends a genre, a scene is brewing. A queer scene clashing with its past, its present and its perceptions. With the ethos and energy of Electroclash and the punk it out, make it happen of Queercore. Smashed together for what is needed today. With the PEACHEs Berlin shows this May will mark the summer of QUEERCLASH and anointing her queen of the wave. With BLEACH & The Bumholes on supporting duty and debut single release. Girls In Your Area formerly known as the Bricks have their EP set for release. EAT LIPSTICKs third album release! PUNX N KWEENz festival in August a two day lineup of bands intertwined with the show. The tracks have been laid. Let's see how the train sounds.
